Sensor fusion combines outputs from radar, RF, EO/IR, and other sources into a single coherent track, target, or picture. Fusion happens at multiple levels: data-level (raw returns), feature-level (extracted characteristics), and decision-level (tracks and identifications). Modern fusion increasingly relies on AI/ML models to weight sensor inputs against each other in real time, especially in counter-UAS where radar, RF, EO/IR, and acoustic sensors each provide different information about the same track. Sensor fusion is a core component of JADC2 reference architectures. Contributing suppliers span C2 system integrators and AI/ML software firms.
