Cyber Defense
Compute TechnologyCyber defense protects military networks, weapon systems, and supply chains from adversary cyber operations.
Cyber defense in the defense context covers three surfaces: enterprise networks (the DoDIN), weapon system embedded software, and the industrial-base supply chain. Enterprise cyber defense is the mature layer — endpoint detection, network monitoring, and access controls. Weapon-system cyber defense is comparatively young: securing embedded controllers in aircraft, ships, ground vehicles, and munitions is a distinct discipline from IT security. Supply-chain cyber (CMMC, SBOM discipline, hardware provenance) protects against compromise before systems reach the field. The industrial base spans traditional cyber contractors (Booz Allen, ManTech, SAIC) and specialists in operational-technology cyber (Claroty, Dragos).
